About Ka Uruora

The name Ka Uruora has origins in the classical karakia of Taranaki. It acknowledges our connection to place and revitalises and encourages growth. An ‘uru’ is also a term used to describe a grove of trees. The oldest groves of trees in the forest were considered noble leaders, providing shelter and support and empowering others within the forest to grow.

These symbols and ideas inspire the programmes and services offered by Ka Uruora. We exist to provide tools to support and empower whānau to achieve financial independence and improve financial wellbeing.

Ka Uruora has been developed by Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa and Te Kāhui o Taranaki.
